These two locations are just metres apart. One one side of the sound baffle is a quiet, leafy residential area near Hamburg. On the other is a motorway (A23). These sound baffle walls are ubiquitous in Germany, though they can be hard to spot as they are typically covered in foliage. They protect people from road traffic noise, which is not just unpleasant, but also damaging to health.
